Abel has lived all his life on the sanctuary, an isolated planet cut off from the rest of the galaxy. Each year the excess population leave on pilgrimage, a journey of great religious and military importance. The galaxy vast and full of wonder, yet at the same time danger. For Abel's own protection he is enrolled in a joint operations military academy, so he can grow stronger and perhaps one day face a looming threat.
