War has always been a great boon to the scientific and magical communities, horrible deaths and incidental sacrifices aside the contest to win always leads to great advances. This is the tale of one of those sacrifices, a fisherman's son by the name of Michael.

His body slain and his soul torn from it absorbed into the construct which killed him, Michael becomes the subject of an eccentric mage's experiment. Given the new name Gole, he becomes the first golem to possess a soul.
