I ate my morning breakfast while sitting on the couch in the main living area. On the television viewscreen, the news anchor was muted. The seedship was going to keep talking to me. This much was unavoidable. Before all of this, I used to operate a spacecraft. In a technical sense, I guess I still do.
This couch is comfortable.
Hold on.
'I should think with increased concern,' I thought to myself as I sat up straight in my couch. The cushions shifted under my new sitting position.
Maybe it did matter? Have I never considered the implications of existing in such a place when considering it from another viewpoint? It could explain this entire situation.

Update: Quotations that were originally a context helper for the story are being added for audience benefit, but the content itself has not changed. Description reduced to prologue. The tone changes into more like a series of thematically interconnected vignettes, though nothing has been rewritten. All future edits will not change continuity; only style and maybe punctuation/spelling.
Note: Story has no release schedule. POV changes will sometimes occur at the chapter mark. Strange formatting will be fixed when I proofread my submission the day it goes online (or sometime later if I'm lazy.)
Tags will be adjusted if needed.
All suggestions, criticisms, and corrections are welcome.
Your concerns are appreciated.
Please be aware that the story may be confusing.
Good luck.
