A coming of age for those born with talent or magic, in a future Earth where the government actively seeks out those born with magical traits. Eight main characters will each become artists of themselves, and the reader, by growing to understand the various worlds and colors will become, I hope, an artist of the story and the images that it creates. After all, the most fundamental artistic act is the reception of image in one's mind. Sci-fi, fantasy, some historical fiction and inspiration from myth, pop culture, anime, Shakespeare, film, Hegel, and mathematics all come together into the first of seven in the series called THE LIGHT APPARENT.

Chapters were generally released every 8 days for Act I; every 7 days for Act II; every 6 days for Act III; every 5 days for Act IV; and every 4 days for Act V.

For unofficial celeb photos, anime pics, fanart, artists, Nightcafe AI, etc. that I use to help visualize the cast, please see https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1Ptxk9_GGX1KnLR7bZLvYwjCcUsqcq--D?usp=sharing. None of these will be actually attached to the work with its eventual physical publication (except perhaps Nightcafe) but are purely for my visual aid (and yours too)! Note that it is also up to date, so some characters have modifying descriptions that you won't see until their corresponding changes in the novel. Characters who have appeared in Book 2 are also in there :')

I thank the Hector Fan Club, the first betas, for their feedback, theories, and casual observations which on occasion became part of the foundation. I am grateful towards my mom for showing only amazement and congratulations and pride after I told her I'd written a novel. And I'm thankful to all of the artists and authors who have inspired me. Fiction may be a long hallway in the Hotel Trivago, but I'm trying my best to add a new floor.

Various songs, other fictional works, historical figures, words of the Bard, and many other references are used throughout. I do not write to infringe, only to continue a mode that has been forgotten.

"All the world's a stage" -- Shakespear, SCION INMORTALIS

Δ

Book 2 found here
