THE NIGHT SKY IS A LIE, PAINTED ATOP THE SCORCHING REMNANTS OF A RUINOUS WAR

For sixteen years, Everie has known little but death. On her seventeenth birthday, she greets it with open arms.

But Fate, and the Grand Mystery, have other plans for her.

As one of the last denizens of a ruined world long since abandoned by divinity, Everie finds herself without path or purpose. Now facing execution at the hands of the cult she served from birth, she consigns herself to the ignominious fate of nonexistence.

It is all she deserves, after all, for what she is and what she has done.

But then the skies sing with magic once more, crackling with rifts and tears and the awesome wonders of the cosmos beneath. Through the Layers, Everie is found; and through the Layers, she is delivered.

The one-eyed Crying Demon designates Everie as its chosen champion, bestowing upon her a mysterious artifact and heralding a quest Everie knows nor cares nothing of, before sending her off on her merry way - to a new world, rife with mystery. Magic has not yet abandoned this isolated plane, and within it Everie finds herself confronted with strange phenomena beyond her wildest imaginings. From her newfound lens, Everie learns to find hope: she is no longer Everie, the First Sister; she is Everie of House Medea, heir apparent of one of the great Dukedoms of Azer Luceras and descendant of one of the greatest - and most enigmatic - of the hundred great figures that once graced this land.

But war is coming. The artifact Everie has come to possess has granted her a keyhole to the Grand Mystery, and therefore power beyond human ken.

With power comes attention, and those beyond human ken are not so forgiving.

What to expect:

~ No romance

~ Written in Past Tense and third-person POV

~ High fantasy with intricate worldbuilding

~ An unconventional, experimental magic system

~ Lots of setup, possibly contributing to the slower pace

~ (hopefully!) character development

Chapter length fluctuates, but should generally be 2k+ each. There will be intermission chapters spliced throughout each book. Everything is plot-relevant, and cannot be skipped, unless specifically mentioned otherwise.

Book 1 (arcs 1 and 2) is finished. I'll be posting Mondays at 10:00 AM EST. This should stay consistent until I post the last chapter of the first book, which is Chapter 34.

Please note that I am a first time author and a highschooler. If some of this reads a little amateurish, it might be due to my relative inexperience.
