The family he left behind wouldn't miss him. The community he left behind wouldn't remember him. The world he grew up in wouldn't even know he'd existed in the first place. If the world was a great big machine, he was the speck of dust that fell in an obscure, unreachable corner. Weary of a home that didn't want him, Cain died alone.

And for a brief moment of eternity, he was at peace — but nothing good ever lasts.

Follow Cain's journey of self-rediscovery as he remembers childhood joys, sorrows, and struggles, attempts to forget the family he once had, and learns the difference between surviving and living. All while trying to cope with his own death - and, whether he likes it or not, his continued life.

[Cover made in GIMP. The traumatizing content warning is there because the story begins when the main character unalivifies himself. Gore is there just in case - I may want the leeway from it down the line. I don't plan on including any explicitly sexual content in this story, so the sexual content warning is excluded.

Do you have a schedule in mind?

> I'm planning on writing when I feel like it and not forcing the words out to preserve this as an activity I enjoy and not a job I dread. That means no particular schedule, but I will announce it if I plan to drop the story or go on a hiatus. I have the most free time Friday through Sunday, and when life gets busy that may reflect somewhat in my pace.
