A little magic nourishes the world.

 Too much will destroy it utterly .

 Short Description

A stubborn fish-cleaner from the Icewatch investigates the deaths of her parents 11 years ago. Magic, monsters, and murder ensue when her fate becomes entwined with a mysterious sea creature.

 Back-Cover Blurb

When fish-cleaner Bryldi comes of age, and her bloodstone (the gem-like housing of her soul) breaks flesh, its colour will determine who she can be. But as foundling, to earn a permanent place at the Icewatch, the Second Kingdom outpost she calls home, she must rise above her peers. So on her choosing day, she does just that—she chooses—not to join the gatherers as her bloodstone dictates, but the casters—the revered cliff-fishers of the outpost.

Ignoring the facts of a disfigured right foot, and a paralysing fear of heights, being rejected by the Keeper doesn't bear thinking about. Aside from crushing her dreams, it would mean separation from best friend, Ghen, not to mention an insufferable (and likely permanent) grin on rival Ona's face.

But when Bryldi decides to unravel the truth of her past, defying the Keeper in the process, she unearths a devastating secret, and accidentally trespasses in the Surround—the hidden realm of magic, where ancient monsters and immortals still roam.

With guild-trials set to begin, a bitter alliance seems like a ray of hope. But as troubling incidents pile up like the winter snow, Bryldi fears her developing bond with a timberwhale—a creature as mysterious as the Surround itself—might have been a terrible mistake.

THE TIMBERWHALE is a traditional Epic Fantasy novel. I am uploading chapters progressively.

Copyright © 2020 by Andrew May

 WHAT'S IN IT?

Secondary World = Yes

Original Magic = Yes

Original Mythology and Gods = Yes

Original Creatures = Yes

LitRPG = No

Fishing = Yes

Cover Illustration: Andreas Rocha

 UPDATES :

 November Update 1:

 Chapter 5: Watcher in the Northern Wild

 Coming Soon : Non-spoiler Glossary, World Map, more chapters.

The next chapter will be the first from a new perspective.

Glossary will drop soon.
