<p>Hey, Royal Road crowd! Shadows Rise is currently on hiatus, and will remain as such until January 2023, due to unexpected passing of our main writer's mom on October 24th. We apologize for what has been a year full of inconsistency and delays, but we hope you understand this is a particularly difficult ordeal. If you're new here, don't be discouraged from reading. The break will give you plenty of time to be caught up, and rest assured Shadows Rise won't be abandoned. We'll be back with the new year. Sometimes, hunting down the ones who caused you harm comes with the hefty cost of becoming exactly what you hate the most. Shadows Rise is a story about grief, revenge, and the consequences one must face when overcome by either.</p> <p>It begins with two brothers who find themselves alone in the wake of a traumatic loss and become involved with a group of people set on taking revenge on one of the deadliest forces known to Valcrest.</p> <p>Shadows Rise is the first of a series of web novels set in the land of Valcrest. We've changed to an irregular posting schedule for the foreseeable future due to life circumstances. though we plan to return to our previous schedule as soon as possible.
