The ancient Ether, a realm formed from an eternity of bloodshed and war. A hundred thousand years ago, the Ethereal planes were conquered one by one until all came to heel under the reign of the Mirane Emperor, an undying existence who had forged a dynasty that stretched throughout the vast cosmos.

A single power became dominant throughout—towering above all other previous forms of warfare—a force of energy known as the Mir, which had been passed down to those most loyal to both the Emperor and the mighty Empire he had founded. Using this method, they had managed to maintain control over the countless denizens who lived within the Ether, while also selecting vassals to spread the Empire's influence.

Many were forced to accept their fate and serve quietly, while others lurked within the shadows, manipulating the outcomes of wars and sabotaging vital organs from within. A shadow cabal, formed from many dissidents who believed the Emperor had long outlasted his rule. Using their influence, they began terrible wars and brought many worlds to the brink of desolation. Without true control over the ancient Mir, however, even they were unable to halt the passing of time.

One after another, these manipulators were hunted down and executed. Any and all hope for the Ethereal Realm was lost, with only remnant factions remaining, yet none of them possessed the will or strength to fight back. As the last of them were hunted down, the rulers of old hatched one final plot. In an act of desperation, they opened the gap between realms. The plan was simple. Have an outsider, born from a war-ravaged world, steal the control over the power of Mir and crush the then powerless Empire. What they forgot was, that to an outsider, they were no better than the Emperor.
--------------------------------------------------------------- • Release Schedule •
All new chapter releases are bi-weekly based, with some occasional alterations throughout.

I'm a bit backed up on my chapters, and so, with my other project Inquisitor taking center-stage on my mind, ETE will be slightly delayed. This is normal, so please expect new chapters as regularly as possible. Leave a comment trying to predict what you think will happen in the next chapter to pass the time. I was pushing myself too much on releasing three times a week and found myself burned out way too quickly. Until I have the free time I once had, I'll be releasing on a once a week schedule. This can and will change to more releases in the future.
--------------------------------------------------------------- • Important FAQ • Q: What is the cover art from? A: The current cover art for ETE is called 'Run Boy, Run...' which is a work from Gustavo Arteaga's collection, which can be found here - https://gusart.artstation.com/ https://www.instagram.com/sirgusart/ Q: What are some inspirations for ETE? A: That's an easy question. I have several bits of inspiration, but the main one would, of course, be Tower of God, which can be found on the webtoons site with but a simple Google search. An absolutely stellar work on the story, with some of the most jaw-dropping worlds having been built. If I could have even 10% of the worldbuilding that TOG has, I'd be satisfied. Q: What sort of story is ETE, and how long will it run for? A: Hmm. ETE has always been envisioned as a sort of SciFi Fantasy with hints of real Fantasy thrown in. Magic exists, even if called something different and having different functions from usual DnD style magic, while things like guns, lasers, bombs, and ships also exist to bring an almost hectic uneasiness to everything. I plan to run ETE for as long as I have a following, but I do have several hundred pages planned out in my mind, and bits on paper, so it's not ending any time soon. I prefer making long-running webnovels, so that's not an issue.
Sidenote If you're the original artist of the work and would like me to remove your content from my cover art, please send me a private message telling me so. I'm not making any direct profit off this story, and all money-made is entirely Patreon based.

Also; This story and all its chapters are a work-in-progress, and may be altered at a later date. Don't expect perfection, but I am trying my best. Look at everything posted on this fiction as a first draft.
