Cam Wells is a high school science teacher in his late twenties who plays in a weekly D&D game. He is thoughtful, risk averse, honest, and quiet. His game character—the powerful wizard Eldren Pendergast—is anything but.

When Cam accidentally stumbles upon an unsigned contract to become a temporary mage and fill a magical employment shortage at a high lord's court, he jokingly signs on the dotted line. Now, he finds himself alone on the continent of Aldimea on the front line of a war between a dark witch Coven, a secret society of spell archivists, and an overzealous church that maintains its grip on power through the brutal persecution of unsanctioned magic.

But the real problem? Cam doesn't know the first thing about being a mage. As he adventures to complete spell shrines and grow his spell book and powers, he'll meet cartographers who are more than they seem, crime lords who are less than they seem, and an erratic pistol wielding dwarf-- among other charming friends and ruthless foes. As he grows more powerful, he'll begin to unravel the mystery of the temporary mage contract itself and discover that his newfound circumstances may not be as accidental as they first appear.

Follow along as Cam becomes his own game character, Eldren Pendergast, in real life. If he can be become powerful enough, he just might be able to defeat his enemies and find a way home.

Updated Monday through Friday at 12pm EST.

The first book of the story is pre-written and complete. Thanks for reading! Please rate and review if you have the time. All feedback is welcome!

-----------------------------------------------------------

Expect:

- A four story series that follows the MC and his party's travels and quests, with a main quest/overarching plot.

- Book One: The Aetherfind Heist (posting)

- Book Two: Psychomancer (writing in progress)

- Book Three: Mountains of Madness (outlining)

- Book Four: The Zealot's Vault (outlining)

- The beginning of Book One is a slow build focusing on developing characters before big power spikes, but the action picks up and the main character deepens (mostly as I improved at writing)

- Magical politics and espionage

- Whimsical & witty humor, characters, and banter

- A table-top game pace with plenty of side adventures and suspense. I DM a real life campaign for my wife and friends, so that's a part of the inspiration for trying to tell this story in a "session by session" way

Don't expect:

- An unfinished story

- There are no harems or sexual content

- No overly emo MC

- Heavy stat crunching
