<p>After a heist goes wrong, a slum thief and his friend are forced to seek the aid of an immortal witch in the nearby forest, and upon reaching her doorstep, they are offered a proposition: their sworn loyalty for a year in exchange for saving their lives. Though it's too late for his friend, the thief accepts, working with the witch and her apprentice to learn their craft. All seems to be well at first, but before long he discovers people are lured here to be experimented on, and breaking his oath, he decides to run only to be quickly captured. With his fate seemingly sealed, the apprentice approaches him with an offer—he is to take her place in a time loop set up for her years ago that she's unable to take advantage of, one last gamble for both of them to escape.
