The town of Misfell exists to feed the Tower that rises past the clouds into heaven. Sett has trained his entire short life to fight his way to the top and join the Everwar, and now his time has come. Maphen's father has kept him away for his own safety, but what does a 17-year-old care for being safe? He sneaks into the testing line for entry into the Tower, convinced he will be the best.

The lowest level of the Tower is a school to train warriors for the unknown Celestial Realm, but not everyone has the grit nor the virtue to Ascend. If they pass the brutal tests to enter, these two boys will choose their path, train among the mighty, and grow in their masteries until they tower over humanity in body and spirit, wielding incredible magics and earth-shattering weapons. If they fail, they will scrub floors in shame their whole lives, never shaking off the sleeping mind that is the curse of those who stay below.

Either way, they have no time to waste. The clouds grow ever lower around the Tower and those that know the truth mutter their fear in dark corners. The Realm Above is losing the fight, and fewer every year rise through the Tower to fight. Heaven needs swords, and the Everwar beckons.

Once the mighty are ready… they will climb.

*Chapter releases Tuesday, Thursday, & Saturday*

____________________________________

Inspired by Arcane Ascension, Tower of God, and plenty of other fantasy stories, here's what you can expect from The Ascended:

- Two contrasting viewpoint characters. Twice the fun in one package for two different progression experiences.

- Starting at zero and grinding toward excellence and power. That's what I love, and if you're here, I'm guessing you do, too. There's a high ceiling ahead and a lot of level ups along the way.

- Gnarly, brutal combat. Seriously, these kids die. A lot.

- An (eventual) culminating tower climb. Please be patient. They gotta get awesome first.

- School life difficulties and fun in the meantime. Think Hogwarts meets D&D and you won't be too far off.

- Extensive, well-fleshed out power skill trees on every path. So many powers to choose from. Every single one of them I wish I could do!

- Plenty of character development both skill-wise and emotionally. Come for the grind, stick around for the pathos.

- A story that keeps pulling back further and further to show a whole world. Just when you think you've got the whole picture…whoops, zoom out!
