<p>There are worse places to be stuck all alone for the night than the future-themed Atom Mall.</p> <p>But when the night passes and you're still stuck.</p> <p>With a simmering migraine.</p> <p>And there's no one inside or out.</p> <p>Except for a blurry shadow on the security cams.</p> <p>And a concussed stranger in the mall cinema.</p> <p>Then it's bad.</p> <p>~~~</p> <p>A little bit of horror, a little bit of mystery, a little bit of is this other person going to kill me?</p> <p>~~~</p> <p>At one point, I thought of turning this into a 5,000 page existential drag about an MC living alone, day in, day out, inside a deserted shopping mall, questioning the object-reality of things.</p> <p>Then the mushrooms wore off.</p> <p>Then they kicked back in again when I designed the cover.</p> <p>~~~</p> <p>Updates a lot for the next month as I need to reach 55,500 words with this and another story [that one's almost at the target, so it should be doable].</p> <p>After April, we'll see.</p> <p>[Participant in the Royal Road Writathon]</p>
