Forces of good and evil have clashed against each other since immemorial times, thus keeping the power balance in the universe. This was well and all... Until they both started to run out of resources. Maintaining such a long war for such a long time is no small deed, and even the greatest existences are bound to exhaust their strength after constant battling...

So, after much deliberation, both sides came to an understanding, and decided upon a much more efficient method to solve the whole "the universe is mine!" deal. Copypast a world, inject it's inhabitants with a power boost every five years, let them feel special and make them pick a side to fight for...

And so the age of the Meta-Society began, with Heroes on one side and Villains in the other...

This is common knowledge for everyone. It is also common knowledge that the chances of developing meta-abilities are... Less than bright. Most people live their lives normally even after the surge of powers, thinking of getting one much like winning the lottery: it would be great, but it's highly unlikely. With the slight difference of seeing a villain or a hero flight through the sky from time to time, nothing has really changed in the past century...

Which is why, when Lawrence found himself staring at the mirror with the mark shared by all metahumans in the back of his hand, he couldn't really give credit to his eyes. Never in his wildest dreams had he ever thought of joining the world of "superpowers"...

But alas. Destiny calls. He's been branded a Villain and as such he shall act. The Root is never wrong, after all, and if it says he's to walk the path of evilness, then he will have to make peaces with it...

And hey. Since he's on it, why not becoming the greatest criminal mastermind of all times?
