My first public work! At this posting I've written the first eight chapters of ~1.5-2k words a piece for readable size. Your honest feedback is tremendously appreciated!

A lazy godling botches their first Summoning in an attempt to bring 'sweet confections' to the Realm their Mother has banished to them so that they can learn maturity from mortals. The Summoning gives the bakery staff epic power, but a lazy engineer and his three friends are also pulled into the Realm, arriving without divine gifts, knowledge, or a purpose. When the godling tries to complete the process for these extras, her divine powers are drained and the friends are transformed in unexpected ways.

Aaron, tech exec, gains youth but loses the credibility of age and wealth....

John, HR manager and womanizer, finds out what it's like to be on the other side of the male attention...

Lucy, lawyer and John's secret sort-of-lover, discovers a new way into John's heart, if she could just get into John's pants...

Alan, lackluster HVAC engineer that likes easy work and automating their job, given access to the underlying symbolic language of Magic and these damned too sensitive fox ears...

Largely a 2nd person perspective with an omniscient viewpoint for the active character (primarily Alan), the story will follow the unintentionally Summoned group of thirty-something friends, stuck now in youthful bodies (with a MtF and FtM transition) and tasked with basically babysitting a godling that was banished for not growing up.

Alan is a lazy engineer, which means he'll work hard so he doesn't have to work that hard. When the incomplete and botched Summons is 'finished' by the godling, she doesn't realize that Alan has already had a 'Universal Translator' spell implanted into his barely compatible otherworlder brain. The drain on the godling's divine Essence sucks the godling totally dry, rendering her stuck and mortal, until her goddess Mother deems her worthy of returning to Heaven. Alan is imbued with divine Essence, granted access to the complete symbol and function library for the circuit/programming structure for crafting spells that use Mana, and might now be immortal. He just wants to take it easy, could everyone just take a chill pill and stop trying to get him to do things for them?

With no real epic mission in mind, the four friends struggle to find a real direction in their new life, deciding to make their way to safer lands where 'Man' is welcome. With a tweenager godling and a hot-headed Talor (elf-analogue) in tow, they may be their own worst enemies. Somehow Alan has the key to ultimate power and... he doesn't care. Ultimate power takes too much work.
