<p>The caves hold many sins and secrets, covered and buried. If only they would look just a little closer, they would see the cracks growing deeper. They would see old dead things, growing restless, just waiting to be released.</p> <p>In a grand underground city ruled by the six Families, humanity seems to thrive. Family is not a genetic unit, but a doctrine and pact made with the ancestors. Each Family weilds unique magic, as long as doctrine is followed. If any grave crime against one's Family is committed, their pact will be severed. They are disowned, emptied of magic, and only the honoured Orphanage will take them in.</p> <p>--</p> <p>It is from this Orphanage that Nadira, an adventurous young woman sick of serving the long-dead Royals, will begin. Her bookish friend Daress suggests a career arbiting between the six Families as a Diplomat, hoping it will give them both purpose. But first they must prove themselves to their matron.</p> <p>Purpose is no issue for Arturri, disowned from the Dar Yi Family for murder. He must prove his innocence at all costs, even if it means putting the respect of the Orphans at risk to do so. Leliana, matron of the Orphanage and prominent Diplomat, will not take that sitting down.</p> <p>Meanwhile, Cebrice, a timid young man within the Bheorse Family, struggles to find a place for himself amidst his talented packmates. When a member of his pack goes missing, things start to change.</p> <p>The balance that holds the underground city together is fragile, and the weights will shift.
