A low-trope, non-derivative feast of fantasy, magic, espionage, and political intrigue containing magically gifted bards as an essential and capable class amongst a unique and non-overpowering magic system with heavy helpings of witty dialogue, surprising twists, and a dash of mystery.

Bards…..Really?

I think high and epic fantasy as a genre has done bards and readers a disservice by not better exploring their magical capabilities and the intricacies of their craft. After all, to us here in the real world, music is the closest thing we get to experience to real magic whenever our favorite song gives us new-found energy, makes our heart leap or foot tap, or the apropos tune tugs at heartstrings and pulls tears from our eyes.

Back Cover

An age has passed since the gods Ascended. Generations have come and gone without them hearing their true names. A poor fisherman and a worse drunk, Harpis Akkeri, has been stumbling and struggling to find his place amidst the bitterly divided city-states of his home. Perhaps instead, his role will be chosen for him. In the shadows, a secretive organization plays puppet master through manipulation and murder. Facing death, in a moment with nothing to live for, Harpis finally begins to fight. Not all who work in the shadows are willing to suffer them. The greater good for all does not always suit those who execute it. If Harpis can find his voice, the gods may yet have ears that listen.

Categories: High / Epic Fantasy, Action, Adventure, Political Intrigue, and a decent dose of ComedyStatus: This work is finished, but for now, I have only the Prologue-Chapter 11 up here on Royal Road. I am excited to see what you all think as I begin work on book two of this initial trilogy!
