<p>A twelve-year-old boy, cursed by the sage his teacher before having been born, must venture from his home on a wonderful but perilous journey. Delightful in the many people he should meet and the many sights he should see, but fraught with much conflict along the way. And all the while must he contend with individuals and forces and knowledge greater than he has ever known; be they lords, kings, Celestials, Gods, or Demons. Thus wishing to know all concerning him and his journey, the illustrious Shūnaya requested of the great bard and sage Samithaḥ "O blessed devotee of the highest being, you who have arrived to officiate alongside us this grand sacrifice, we come seeking your narration of the greatest of the Ṃārhaḥn that had walked this world in the days of yore. A man, greater than any who had come before and had dispensed to us the universal wisdom that had been lost for many an age. Will you recite the Pharvanṃ of this great individual, O One who is of the Sun?" And thereupon being glad of heart, Samithaḥ dispensed to him and the sixty thousand sages that had gathered in that sacred forest of transience, the long epic of the greatest Ṃārhaḥ that had ever lived in Ārhmanhaḥ Tūmbṃār, they who shall overcome! Thus begins the glorious tale of the Ṃārhaḥnyahm of Tūmbṃār!
