It's an old, old story. Princess is in a tower, guarded by a dragon. Prince slays the dragon and rescues her. Said Prince is then awarded the Princess and half of her kingdom.

Arriane is having absolutely none of that.

She takes fate into her own hands and forges a path of her own. But in a world where stories are practically alive, she's going to learn that all choices have consequences.

What you can expect:

This is a more "traditional" fantasy writing. There's no game system, numbers, or levels.

Hopefully: Good writing, humor, interesting characters, and subverted (or avoided) tropes. LGBTQ themes will be present.

I have around 50,000 words written currently. My motivation to write tends to come from feedback - if you like the story, please tell me! If you like parts and dislike other parts, please tell me! Hate the story? Please tell me why.

I will be posting a couple of chapters initially, and then at least weekly until I run out of content (based on the remaining story I am expecting this to go around 100k-120k words for Book 1). Chapters are in the 4k-6k word count range. If I get a good response, I may write more and post extra chapters.

Tags:

Gender Bender: No "true" gender swaps, but crossdressing and gender role mixups. This is not used for titillation - it's important to the plot.

Multiple Lead Characters: With some exceptions chapters will alternate between the FL (Princess) and ML (Prince).

Profanity: Present but not excessive (one character may not obey this because they are an asshole like that).

Sexual Content: Fade-to-black. Nothing explicit.

Gore: Fighting scenes but not overly descriptive.

Traumatising Content: Rare, but there will be occasional scenes that fit this warning so I wanted to call it out.
