Confront the war within, to survive the war without.

Twenty-three years after the fall of the Ayvartan Empire and the rise of the Socialist Dominances of Solstice, the great southern continent once more found itself at war. From far overseas, the Nocht Federation, the Kingdom of Lubon and the Empire of Hanwa declared war on the burgeoning Ayvartan nation, hoping to stifle its revolutionary ideals and restore what they see as its legitimate government. They prepared to do whatever it took to tear down the red flag flying over the ancient fortress city of Solstice.

To secure the gains of their revolution, the Ayvartans struggle to reorganize themselves for a total war that will drag the entire world into its bloodshed and madness. Unprepared, and overwhelmed, the communists must deal with the war within their own nation and their own hearts and minds, if they are to survive the war for the course of history itself.

No one would ever forget the 18th of the Aster's Gloom of the year 2030.

Additional information : The Solstice War is an anime-inspired queer fantasy war fiction about imperialism and struggle, both for land, for our bodies and our minds. It is a story about liberatory violence, and taking history in directions that your descendants may look back on with horror, in order to survive. It is set in a world that harkens to the aesthetics and culture of the 1930s and 40s, both European culture but also the culture of under-represented nations of the war like India, Africa and the middle east.

It's not a story that strives for perfect factual accuracy, but rather a mix of larger-than-life exploits, down-to-earth feelings, and the naked brutality of war and the things it does to people's actions and minds (and a dash of gonzo comedy). Characters are not perfectly rational and will make mistakes and be blinded by prejudices and ideology. Equipment and events do not square 1-to-1 with the history of WW2, and the fights are not rigorously realistic. Rather, think of it as a sort of industrial magical realism or low fantasy, with a dash of anime tropes and aesthetics.

Currently there is no map of the world of Aer, but one will be forthcoming in the future.

Constructive criticism is appreciated, and please point out typos. I know I'm very bad about them, and I will fix as many as you'll catch. Please do let me know the chapter and maybe a sentence fragment so I can quickly nab them. However, I don't want to debate things like the "plot armor" of a character. I think those things are in the eye of the beholder, and if you just can't stand the stories' general conventions, there's really no plan to change them for any given individual's pleasure but my own.
