A world in peril ― a world facing oblivion. Who can rescue such a place?

The rating for a certain world was falling down, down, down below the point that the Deities Union had set for such worlds. It was almost certainly sabotage ― and the goddess in charge of this world knew it was her own sister goddess who did it ― out of whatever emotion or malevolent reason you care to assign to her.

It was this older sister goddess' very first world she had created, as a qualification to be a goddess; she had her private residence on this world ― or it was, until the sister had caused its destruction. So, not wanting to deal with this little squabble among goddesses, the seniors of the DU had decided upon a challenge to finalize the state of this world. The world ratings system was already in place, and the numbers were reaching that critical point ― just a little higher on one number, and they would see no reason to allow it as a destination for Soul Transfer; it would essentially be abandoned by their decree.

Wanting very much to rescue her beloved world from the abandonment into the cosmos it would face, this goddess was allowed to have only one final person to summon from the other worlds, that is selected by her younger sister; just one person to try to do what these two goddesses apart could not do ― set right some very particular wrongs, and maybe rekindle the better senses of the mortals of that world, who had been experiencing very much the chaos of the broken sibling deities ― or, for him to destroy the world out of madness.

Meanwhile, upon a planet called Earth, a young Japanese boy and his younger sister are brutalized by thugs, and raped, and tortured, and killed ― not necessarily in that order of magnitude of severity. But that is not the end, for either of them. Both siblings are given separate chances to reunite on some world, or at some point in the unknown future. Only, he could not know the choice of his little sister, until he would chance to meet her ― whenever, wherever, however she would manage to survive.

And so, the brother, Kazu, met the goddess with much weeping and regret in his heart, at not knowing the fate of his doting little sister. He wants to hate the world, hate all of humanity ― but in ending up in the gentle arms of this older-sister goddess who needs him, he sought a sort of redemption for his failure to protect his little sister from their shared fate. And maybe, just maybe, a chance to reunite with her.

But, this is just the beginning; it is not even guaranteed that his sister would be going to the same world he would. Kazu was betting, hoping beyond hope, that his sister Saya, who actually knew his preference, his willingness to take on a grand challenge, that she would pick the same world as he was about to choose. At least, he hoped it was so.

In the place the young boy was to be summoned to, many onlookers would be present, and many more would view this event from a distance, through "viewing magic". Present in the arena would be a king, queen, princess, summoning priest, knight commander, a squad of elite knights, and a few hundred onlookers. The king was preparing to slap a magical enslavement collar around the neck of the one he and his priests were in the process of summoning ― Kazu himself ― and then this summoned one would be his to command. At this site, not just the royal family, not only also the priests with their summoning magic scrolls, not only also selected individuals of this king's capital city, but also in several places around the world, "the summoning" was about to be broadcast, simultaneous to its occurrence ... just to prove the power of this little kingdom and its king.

And, that's just the royal family members of this one rather self-important kingdom's leadership; the problems in this world do extend to all lands, all residents of the world, in all strata of social statuses. It is a world with human and nonhuman species, some being seen as "more equal" than others, with all the stress that this infers upon world cultures. Kazu will accept going to this problem world for the sake of what the goddess is asking ― begging ― of him, but by his asking for a certain chance to view the past and present of many of these people, he will see both good and bad in people; this onslaught of activities viewed shows him both the best and worst in people.

So with a renewed GANBATTE attitude, Kazu ― having been given a glimpse of things having happened, and currently happening, and hints about the things about to happen in this world on his arrival, sets about to turn the status quo upon its head. A grand challenge will be made to the world ― instead of allowing himself to be used at a royal whim, Kazu will stop everything.

See here for the Royal Road promotional thread/more conversation.
