In the first part of his life, Darius's deepest desire was to become a superhero. It was a naïve dream, but he didn't intend to let anyone stop him from achieving it.

Unfortunately for him, it was also an impossible one. Not because superheroes didn't exist—they did. No, it was impossible merely because Darius was born without a power. To be an official superhero recognized by the United States government, a superhuman needed to first graduate from one of the five prestigious Hero Academies spread across the United States. Darius, however, was no superhuman. He was what supers tended to call a mundane, and though mundane people had the same rights as supers according to the law, they were not allowed to be accepted into any of the Hero Academies.

Despite that, he had always respected and looked up to heroes with fascination and awe, without even a hint of envy. That is, until the day two years ago that turned his life upside down. The day of his father's murder.

After discovering some family secrets, Darius plans to take on the world and accomplish his father's goals.
