A beacon to all nations.</p> <p>For nearly eighty years, progress and advancements were made. Republic City now stands as one among many. Proofs of the Avatar's legacy. Built largely by the Goddmashin, the credo for earth and metal benders, claiming to trace their work back to the legendary Toph Beifong. Now, as the prominent leaders of this new age, they claim to be the Great Builders of Civilization. Yet with every invention, for any purpose, grows the hunger for more—for fuel to run these great works, for money to invest back into the Great Machines. So upon the back of the Great Cities, Clan Vernis, with their 'white fire,' emerged from the Northern Fire Isles, slaking the thirst of the Goddmashin machines. With their opulent castles and untold riches, the Vernis claim to offer civilization their very lifeblood.</p> <p>But they are not alone, for in this new enlightened age, clans, companies, gangs, and other things forgotten are beginning to rise, seeking their own paths and goals. With the known world becoming ever smaller, a select few will stand tall.</p>
