Disgraced. Exiled. Trained to kill.

Catrin is part of the rnari, one of the most respected and feared warrior sects on the continent. With a bloodline that has guarded the Raidt royalty since its inception, she is a rising prodigy in the sect: strong, fast, smart, and unquestionably loyal.

Or, at least she was. Then, she went and broke the hand of the Raidt's crown prince. Now, she's in unofficial exile at a human castle, learning swordwork.

Even worse, an enemy prince has arrived, and she must bow to him, too.

Why couldn't the world just leave her exile in peace so she could live out her penance? Better yet, why couldn't she have just not broken Prince Tarris' stupid hand?

In a few days, she's going to wish that enduring shame and embarrassment was the worst of her worries.

Because in a few days, the world—and all the worlds connected to it—will be turned on its head.

If she wants to fix it, she's going to have to partner with that enemy prince... and face an adversary their world hasn't seen in centuries.

***

What to expect:- An author who's new to Royal Road, but not to authoring. Hello!

- Slower build; fast, hard-hitting action that experienced readers have described as "brutal". Takes a couple of chapters before things hit the fan.

- Complex, well-developed worlds.

- Multiple magic systems. Yes, multiple.

- What happens when a reliable system of interconnected portal worlds breaks?

- Violence Is Often An Option

- Dry, sarcastic humor.

- Progression aspects (starting mainly in Book 2)

- Science Fiction starts seeping in around Chapter 14.

- A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court secondary character (portal fantasy!), except the poor dude can't speak the local language.

- Main Character is physically strong and formidable, but far from perfect. Has a dry sense of humor and has to put up with the rest of her party's crazy ideas.

Release Schedule: Daily until we hit Chapter 14, after which I will gauge my progress and see what I can commit to. Except for a few extra chapters I want to add from a different POV, the first book is finished at 90,000 words. I originally released it in 2020, but wanted to get back into this world and do a small revamp. Alas, I am currently under contract and in the middle of writing another book (Space Opera! Woohoo!), so I have to make sure that one is getting finished before I divert writing time away from, you know, food money. Or my senior kitty's (prescription) drug fund.

If it's looking good, I'll be updating twice-a-week. If it's not looking good, it'll be once-a-week until the other project is sent to the editor.

I'm rather a cautious type and I don't want to make promises I won't be able to deliver on. =)
