When desires run rampant, what happens when someone just wants to help?

In the Sect, a nameless refuge for al cultivators who have not been taken in by one with a name, there are still outcasts. Failures who cannot control chi, disgraces who disrespect their elders, and many other 'undesirables'--named such by the Sect's less good-natured elders.

Kasri is a failure, but not for the reasons he thinks. Taught a cultivation technique for a way he cannot walk, disowned by a family who cares nothing for him, and left to rot in the Sect's wilds as a punishment for a crime he doesn't even remember committing. His only solace is the yearly show of force; a competition where all the Sect's 'disciples' put on a show in an attempt to be recruited.

But cultivators are nothing if not emotional. Controlled by the chi raging in their souls to act according to their deepest desires no matter what they may be. Kasri knows he stands no chance as he is--too old to be brainwashed, no chi to his name, and the raggedy robes of someone who survived a year in the wilderness. Though, through a chance meeting with a member of the infamous Silverbloom sect, he just may have a chance.
