<p>Nikola is a prominent NPC in The World of Wills. She leads a life of bloodshed and murder - that is, until she one day wakes up sapient. Struggling with her newfound freedoms, morals and even some pesky emotions, she is soon plunged into a Battle Royale whose participants think they're on a week-long gaming retreat. Just as Nikola begins to become a person with real, non-scripted thoughts, she and the players 'vacationing' in The World of Wills are told they need to participate in the killing - or die.</p> <p>Cutting to Life is a slow burn LitRPG with a female lead. It's told from the perspective of Nikola, an NPC within the World of Wills who's become sapient. It's quite light for a LitRPG, but the numbers and stats become more of a focus later when Nikola herself can access them.The story gradually builds into a Battle Royale where the players' lives are on the line, and only one party of savvy adventurers can win. They'll have to spend their time and stats wisely as dungeons promising rare gear float down from the sky - all the while, the players think they're on a week-long gaming retreat and are being anything but wise.Join me on this tale of frustration, blood, gore, awakening, self-actualization and trying to be a good person while embroiled in a deeply ungood survival situation.Updates will be published daily for 10 days (assuming this goes out on the 10th - if it does not, the 10 days will start on the 10th of June), and then the regular schedule of Fridays and Sundays will kick in.- This story is told in third person, past tense.- Chapters are anywhere between 800 words and 3000+ words, depending on where I feel the best stopping point is.- This story is partially (very, very sparingly - forgive me, I take hours to draw an eye) illustrated by the author.
