Not every killer is a damsel in distress.

Jessica DeRidder is a substitute teacher and mage in hiding, Ellen a killer on the run. Their next job lands the mother-daughter team in Hellhole, a small, backwater town in the middle of nowhere that hosts the struggle between the Man in White and the Masked Lady. A struggle that has its roots in Ellen's dark past.

A hastily made promise is just the beginning, followed by chance encounters with book thieves, airplanes, and a dead pizza delivery guy. Strangers mistake her identity, friends claim her as property, and Ellen's mother starts asking for odd favors such as oatmeal for breakfast and nightly nailed rabbits. Even the ghosts are lost for words.

All Ellen wants to do is her homework, eat some ice cream, and protect her newfound friends (not necessarily in that order). Ellen knows the worst is yet to come. She will need all the help she can get, but who can she trust if she can no longer trust herself?

(Contains some violence, mystery, light magic, a pinch of romance and a heavy dose of salty snark. Someone described this as 'Buffy meets Sabrina'. I'm still not sure if I should consider that a compliment, or if I should hire a hitman :-))

Kind's Kiss is the first book in the ParentKillers series. This book is complete and currently under revision. Each week I'll post more of the revised chapters.

All rights reserved (nobody else wanted them) c2017...2021 EJN.
