The land of Iro is harboring a Kingdom on the rise. It's people going beyond human limits to be granted unwavering power, wealth, and fame amongst the Jewel continent. They are Ascending above all else, and are given a name befitting such a feat.

Ascenders.

But not everyone is treated equally, as those who fail to ascend to anythign worthwhile are treated as trash and used as nothing more than cannon fodder in the war. Liam's adopted family is soon to become a victim of such status, all of his other siblings failing to ascend and ultimately failing to bring them out of the slums. Now all hope is on Liam as his turn is next, and as if the Gods have answered his prayers, he ascends.

Only, he does not ascend into any famed classes such as Paladin, Assassin, Cleric, Sorcerer, etc. He ascends into a higher grade of the Black Smith class, an Enchanter. A class granting him the ability to imbue weapons and armor with magical abilities.

But that's it.

Liam is not destined to go on great journeys, slay great beasts, fight great battles, and wage great wars. No, Liam is going to be kept within the King's castle and used as nothing more than a means to an end. A slave who will craft day in and day out to create weapons befitting the status of the other Ascenders, and he will do nothing more than just that.

However, Liam decides otherwise, and will do his best to grant himself some semblance of potential on the battlefield. As he wants more than anything to rise beyond just being a crafter, and to make his fellow peers and those at the top know his name.

Even if it means exploring a world crawling with unknown dangers, learning from a mentor who has the tendency to drink excessively and blow things up, and trying to solve the mystery behind the contraption he is not allowed to touch.
