Castello was born in a time of peace, where the land flourished and conflict was scarce. But behind all of its beauty and peace, the continent of Nierrath had a bloody past. Ever since the beginning of time, the continent was ravaged by war. Some to expand their territory, others for resources. The list of reasons they waged war for was endless. Every once in a while, a huge kingdom would rise only to split up once more when its great leader died. This endless cycle of conflict was interrupted when the Demon King and his army appeared. It immediately took over the kingdom he appeared in and immediately starting to spread his territory to other kingdoms. The war waged against the Demon King was later on named as the Freedom War. It was the first time the inhabitants of the Nierrath grouped against one common enemy. But it wasn't the alliance that won the war, it was a hero, wielding a legendary sword with mysterious powers. The Demon King was defeated, and his death ushered in the age of peace across the continent. Or so everyone thought.
