<p> Winter reluctantly releases its grip on the realm of Averlund as Cailen, Sentinel Initiate, is sent away from the decrepit fortress he had known as his only home. They must find a way to stop an abomination and undo its insidious works. </p> <p> </p> <p> Change rides on the wind in Averlund, as does smoke, blood, and despair. </p> <p> </p> <p> Author's note: I am attempting something quite different here, the storyline about the 'hapless fools' refers to a group of DnD players. The game is set in the same world as the story and their choices will begin to have a limited effect on the story after chapter 5. I do hope that those of you who find this fiction do enjoy it. </p>
