The Blutenkhad, they say it means the bloody squad.

A fearsome name you would say. But it was in fact given to them because of their status as canon fodder. A bunch of peasants and criminals whose blood was only there to dull the enemy swords. But one man will use it in his thirst of power in order to take his revenge. A cold genius strategist who will give our aimless hero a cause to thrive for. And they will meet the red beast, whose name and nature made it like it was its destiny to join them.

In a kingdom ravaged by war against the allmighty empire, watch as they rise to power and fame upon overcoming many fierce battles. But is revenge really worth all that blood? Does a cause justify all the killing? Does war ever ends? And will their friendship endure it all?

Author's notes : I'm a novice writer and this is my first story. English isn't my first language so please bear with the poor style / grammar. I just like writing in english better.

The story is set in a medieval and kinda realistic setting for the character's living conditions, weapons and such. There will be a few fantasy elements.

The emphasis will be on the story and characters and not world building.

I will make a point of using original but realistic tactics for most if not all the battles. ( I'm not into describing people simply slashing at each other for hours, i'm more interested in the strategic part)

I've already writen actions and dialogues for about 50 chapters and planned out the rest, all i have to do is put that into form. It means i should be able to get a few chapters out per week if there are people interested.

Finally all constructed crticism is more than welcome, again sorry for the poor english, please bear with me and thanks for reading.

A genius strategist who will give our aimless hero a cause to thrive for. And they will meet the red beast, whose name and nature made it like it was its destiny to join them.

The Blutenkhad will give birth to a legend. And as legends usually go there is a hero. Despite losing his family he will find a trusted friend, and they will fight together to free their land. And what's a hero without a demon? A demon, born from sin and despair, whose very existence was a threat to the hero's people. But before that come more hardships as the hero face betrayal from his most trusted friend and also temptation, in the form of a woman. A vile succubus who will try to sway our hero from his righteous path.

The legend is famous and it has traveled through various countries and times. You've probably already heard it hundreds of times so why bother you ask? Well in this particular version, maybe the one closest to the truth, we don't really know who is who. The hero, the demon or even the traitor. Sure, the victor was called hero by his people like it usually happens, but will you chose to do the same?

Author's notes : I'm a novice writer and this is my first story. A bunch of peasants and ex convicts whose blood was only used to dull the enemy swords. But a genius strategist will transform it with the unexpected help from a wanted criminal. description

Gravelroy, the last free city, giant metropolis. All ethnicities, cultures, and religions can be found there. Merchants, sailors, criminals, everyone is welcome inside its walls. Everyone but a king, the free citizens don't kneel. But some rulers on the continent would like for this to change...

A country bumpkin coming to the Big City. Raised by the wilderness as much as the war. Turned criminal by necessity.

A wounded and insane woman. A monster lurks in her prison. She struggles to regain her memories and dreams of escape.

A tiny, insignificant meeting. It will send ripples through the world. Given time, ripples can become waves. With enough luck, once in a very long while, a wave will turn into a storm.

Slaves, commoners, and soldiers. Bishops too, kings even. Perhaps the Emperor himself. Everyone will feel it.

But for now, the stubborn little rock has yet to fall into the waters. He has quite a long way to go in fact.

Let's give him a little nudge, shall we? With chance, something might happen. Life can be unpredictable.

Especially when we consider the adventures of a crazy girl and a weird lad. Things might get dramatic as the prelude suggested, or they might decide to do as they want and go nuts. Maybe a bit of both.

The girl will fight against her own mind, her prison, and her fate. Who imprisoned her and why? But maybe she has imagined everything. She is mad after all.

To save someone dear, the boy fights hunger and city guards. Sometimes pigeons as well. Well, this city is cracked anyway.

Cover art by Paul Lerouvillois.
