This is the story of a man. A man that hated the world he lived in. He hated it so much that he spent years fantasizing about one day being transported to another one. All of the media he consumed was, in one way or another, related to the concept of being sent to another dimension. He wanted magic. He wanted swords. He wanted to level up in dungeons, fighting fantastical creatures that sent shivers down the spines of even the most hardened warriors. He wanted to live a life of mysticism and adventures, but it was exactly what it sounded like: a fantasy.

When he was a teenager, it was easy to hold onto the dream. He was young and hopeful. His head was in the clouds and everyone could see it. There was something fascinating about the glimmer in his eyes to some people, and that drew them near him. He eventually fell in love with something other than his musings, that being a woman. A real one. At first, they shared a common love for the idea of a world of magic. Then, the more time they spent together, the more comfort they found in one another.

They ended up getting married. She grounded him in reality. He gave up on his fantasy and focused on the reality that he lived in. He had an okay job, he had a wife that loved him, and he even had a child on the way with her. He was finally happy with his world, he had found the magic within it.

The day his wife's water broke, he received a call at work that she was being taken to the hospital. He rushed there to meet her, to support her through the pain and see his child take their first breaths, but as he ran through the hospital doors, his vision went black.

His forehead hit something solid, knocking him off of his feet. When he hit the ground with a thud, his vision slowly returned to him, revealing the bottom of a thick canopy above him. The sounds of forest creatures surrounded him from all directions. The steady rustling of footsteps disturbing the fallen leaves and shrubbery grew closer and closer until a curious little face leaned over him.

Purple skin. Pointed ears. Beady red eyes. A long nose. Rows of deadly sharp teeth revealed to him by a smile that made him uneasy.

This was a goblin.

"Did I just get isekai'd?!"
