<p>The year is 2564.</p> <p>540 years ago, Magic, long thought dissipated or a part of children's fairy tales, came back to the realm of man, releasing a shockwave of energy that covered the entire planet before dissipating. It knocked out the entire world energy grid system as electricity and telecommunications of any kinds ceased to exist; chaos reigned in the streets of cities across the world. When governments finally managed to bring order to their countries many months later, they found that the world had changed irrevocably.</p> <p>The magical energy that emanated from the planet acted as a conduit, opening hidden gateways throughout the planet. The Things that go bump in the night were real, and they bumped first. Dragons, Monsters, and things of the Dark came from the less travelled places of the world, terrorizing a Mankind that hadn't seen their like in Epochs.</p> <p>The re-emergence of magic had a dramatic effect on people with certain chromosome abnormalities. An affected person body would suffer extreme flu like symptoms before going into full cardiac arrest. Their body would convulse violently, spasming as the body underwent an excruciatingly painful physical transformation. This affected more than 70% of the population, and only the strong survived. The event became known as The Blackout, and it became the largest single event of change in the history of Man to date.</p> <p>From this mutation, mutant species such as Dwarves, Gnomes and Elves emerged, becoming officially recognized by the United Nations in 2042 after decades of persecution, ridicule and xenophobia from Humans, who were vastly outnumbered planet wide. In 2049, two further species came forward from hiding and revealed their presence, having been hiding in plain sight all along. The addition of the Cambion and the Nephilim to society ripped open old wounds and the Church declared heresy, attempting to incite a religious uprising.</p> <p>Throughout the next 50 years, thanks to a massive breakthrough in robotics and space transportation technology, mining colonies were established on Mars. These mining colonies became the lifeblood of technological innovation with their access to minerals and materials that were hard to or impossible to obtain on earth.</p> <p>In 2099, the residents of Sol made first contact with an alien species when an alien probe entered the solar system and crashed landed on Jupiter's largest moon, Titan. Earth space governments declared unity under the alliance known as the Terran High Command, resolved to approach first contact with an alien species from a position of strength and solidarity.</p> <p>With their emergence as a spacefaring multi-planetary people, the Terran High Command were approached and welcomed into the Galactic Naval Command; a collective of peaceful spacefaring governments scattered throughout the galaxy in nearby star systems. Under the watchful eye of their peacekeeping force, The Vindicatus, co-habitant peace and trade between peoples has existed and flourished between the peoples of the GNC for hundreds and thousands of years, until now…</p> <p>An expansionist resolve has stretched the Galactic Naval Command thin. Discontent between galactic nation's has created a powder keg of cosmic proportions that is primed and ready to explode. Stories of government cover ups, "training exercises" and the sudden disappearance of several high profile naval officers continued to spread throughout GNC territory and people were starting to get worried.</p> <p>Meanwhile, Chief Warrant Officer Finnegan Pearce and the survivors of The Javelin, a GNC civilian transport ship must find a way to survive and find a way home to Mars after crash landing on a restricted planet. Things go sideways as he navigates staying alive and avoiding breaking intergalactic law as he is forced to interreact with the planet's inhabitants on this aggressive and unfamiliar world.</p>
