<p>Pokemon.</p> <p>Anime. Manga. Video games. Cards. Cultural phenomenon. All of this and so much more, it was next to impossible to find someone who didn't know at least something about pokemon or its iconic yellow mascot in my old world.</p> <p>I use 'old world' intentionally -- because I happened to find out something about pokemon that I hadn't known: that they very much existed in a very real alternate universe. A universe in which I, for some unknowable reason, found myself transported to, inhabiting the body of young boy on the cusp of setting out on his pokemon journey.</p> <p>It was a situation that I thought myself prepared for. As a fan of the IP for decades, I had an encyclopedic knowledge of so much of what I thought I needed to know. There was just one problem: this wasn't the standard world of pokemon in which I had spent so much time exploring via screens. It was based on a very specific ROM hack, one I had heard of but never played.</p> <p>Infinite Fusions.</p> <p>--</p> <p>Pokemon fanfic! Based on the premise of the Pokemon: Infinite Fusions ROM hack, which allows you to merge two pokemon into a single fusion. Fused pokemon have blended stats, typings, and abilities of the two merged pokemon, and there's a ton of cool art of fused pokemon you can check out here.</p> <p>I won't be following the exact rules of the ROM hack, nor will I be sticking to canon in other ways with the story. This is a for-fun story that I don't have any major plans or schedule for, but I hope you enjoy!</p> <p>No plans for heavy gore or trauma, but including the tags to give myself space in the future.</p>
