Kizuna (絆) is the story of humanity as it might become in another eight centuries or so.

A few interesting technological advances allow the Solar System to be settled. Books tell of a message from aliens that originated only a few dozen light years away, but that message stopped transmitting so long ago, it has become no more than legend for most. An asteroid strike triggers multiple natural disasters that wipe away much life on Earth and start a new ice age.

But other than that, little else has changed.

Great powers still squabble over resources (to build militaries and maintain bureaucracies). Governments still quibble over minor differences in philosophy (should we stand upon the backs of the poor to maintain the riches of the oligarchs, or control the proletariat to stop them from strangling the autocrats?). Leaders still bicker over who started which war when (answer: they all did).

Old religions still practice their beliefs across the Solar System, and new religions pop up with regular frequency, with one particular group still focusing their faith on the idea that humanity is not alone in the universe.

People still cheat on their spouses when they've had too much to drink, and sacrifice themselves for others without a second thought for themselves. Some even believe in true love.

The Kizuna Histories take place over the next eight hundred years. The histories feature various characters, and show how their actions echo throughout the centuries. Some characters remain constant throughout, and some fall by the wayside in these tales of tragedy and triumph, humour and heroism, that narrate one possible future for humanity.

Kizuna Histories will be updated daily until Christmas, then at least three times a week (M/W/F mornings Japan time) after New Year's Day.
