<p>The year is 2044. It is now entering the holiday season. We will be viewing the life of a young woman with Magickal gifts that cause some social issues. This has caused Merri Claybourne, the main character, to remain with family in a world that is not doing well. While humanity has improved, almost totally being rid of social stigma, Magick practitioners still get persecuted. Merri, being born with supernatural abilities has to find her way through life with very little support.</p> <p>As we enter the home of the Claybourne family, no tree is up, no gifts waiting to be opened, and Merri is home alone while other members are out at work. Holiday vacations no longer exist due to economic and financial hardships. The home has little to no furnishings. The family, working together, are not able to afford more than a one room apartment. Food is scarce. Education has been reserved for those with government or wealthy ties. The Claybournes are facing extreme financial hardship to the point of needing to ask Merri to leave.</p> <p>Merri sat in the center of the room, cross-legged. with tears flowing down her face. This whole situation just felt so helpless. There would be no way she could maintain a full-time job. That is if any were available. She would reach out to friends, if she had any. Her previous attempts did not work well. On one occasion, she shook some girl's hand, and visions just flooded Merri. The reaction scared the stranger away. While walking along a path alone, spirits began to speak to her. The visions along with the voices just would not stop. Even at home, there were difficulties. She became angry at her younger brother enough that walls began to shake.</p> <p>It was time to focus. There was no time for pity parties or self-doubts. If she gave in, the world would gobble her up then spit her back out. The Universe. along with her spirit guides would assist her when they could.</p>
