<p>Mervin dies.</p> <p>No really, that is how the story begins.</p> <p>After dying however, he wakes up... in a new body (of sorts), in a new world, where magic suddenly exists and he gets pulled in a fight between two opposing factions; the ruling class, that wants to hoard all magical information and rule the world with it, and the resistance that wants to research new ways to combine magic and science in order to free the world from this oppression. Their problem however, is that, since research is completely outloawed by the standing authorities, they have no clue where to start. This is where mervin comes in: as an engineering student with a scientific background, they need him to research magic for them, to help them gain an advantage over the powerful but unimaginative traditional magic.</p> <p>AUTHOR'S NOTES:</p> <p>- This is my first-ever story. I love writing but am hopelessly inexperienced and as such, would love any and all commentary and criticism. Not sure if I would value your opinion? I do! So, don't be insecure, and pop a comment anywhere. I'll do my utmost to read everything.</p> <p>- Unfortunately, I am an engineer working in a busy Japanese company, and my schedule is highly irregular, meaning updates also will be. You are warned; if you don't like irregular updates (which I wholly understand, by the way), don't bother with this story yet. I really am looking for patient, intersted, supportive readers who can help me turn this story into something amazing. - More support will of course lead to more movitation, allowing me to sacrifice more of my precious free time to write this thing.</p>
