"All hands on deck!" The Captain's voice rang through the dark air. Henry stumbled to the deck, rubbing his eyes sleepily. Behind him, Tanner and Elizabeth both scrambled up the stairs, guns raised at the terrified voice of the captain. Rain poured down onto their faces and the sails jerked this way and that, throwing a few sailors from the deck.

"Man over board!" Tanner yelped as he attempted to calm the sails. The Captain stood at the helm, shouting orders and ducking the debris that flew over her head. Her blonde hair dripped with seawater and her cutlass was stuck into the wood of the deck, holding her in place.

Henry was confused, what was happening? Elizabeth cried out as a barrel was uprooted from its holder and rolled towards them. They both dove out of the way and watched slowly as the barrel moved over the opening of the door that led to their quarters, blocking the exit for the other sailors. Henry pulled himself to his feet, but was slammed to the floor again by a loose flying board.

"The ship is falling apart!" Elizabeth yelled.

"Thank you for that helpful note Elizabeth, we were all really confused!" The Captain returned as she ran to the barrel, attempting to free her sailors. Henry and Tanner both ran to help her, but the barrel was too heavy and the ship was slowly beginning to overturn. Then Henry looked up; an ominous wave was growing over their heads. The remaining sailors jumped overboard, attempting to save their lives but perishing as soon as they sank beneath the waves. The Captain jerked open the door to her cabin that was only a few feet away and pulled Henry, Tanner and Elizabeth into it.

"Hold on." She murmured, and those were the last words Henry heard before the ship overturned and water threw him out a window and into the open sea.

* * *

Henry's eyes opened to the bright, afternoon sun. For a moment, he had forgotten the events from last night. But then the memories and scenes flooded back into his brain and he groaned. He spat sand from his mouth and stretched his arms as he sat up and looked around. Wood boards, wheat sacks and some spoons were all that remained of the ship on the beach. Many sailors lay around him, but he was uncertain for their lives. Slowly he stood and stepped over the bodies of his fellow sailors. He knelt beside Tanner quietly and watched his chest, trying to see if he was ok. Henry slapped his face and waited for a reaction. A moment passed without reaction, then Tanner coughed and sat up. Henry breathed a sigh of relief before fondly patting his friend's back, straightening up and moving towards Elizabeth, who was only a few feet away. But as he started to kneel beside her, she stuck out her hand and stopped him. "Don't touch me. Don't rush me. Don't talk to me. I will get up when I want to." She growled. A few moments passed before she stood up, then the three survivors slowly walked to the edge of the beach and quietly watched the sunset over the waves.

"Where's our captain?" Tanner finally asked. The question seemed to linger in the air before vanishing and the sailors turned, convinced of the fate of their captain.
