What if the prophesied hero was killed before the Dark One appeared?

Ariadne is dead.

But the Empire of Estrellio is far from being at peace. New troubles are brewing. Extinct creatures have resurfaced, mysterious poison pollutes rivers and lakes, and a strange new disease is discovered north of the empire. And all of this is linked to the infamous Scorn of Ariadne.

In hope to quell the growing concern among the people, the Empire and the Magisterium organized an investigation. Mikkaelo Sarganse, a Fieldworker, is sent to look into a poisoned river. But a Fieldworker's job is far from being easy, especially if an omen—dead birds falling from the sky emerges before him. Driven by his hunger for promotion, he is set to do a discreet investigation. But he would soon realize that not all chests possess treasures, some contain horrors better left unopen.

Ariadne awoke fifteen years prior to her execution. With this second chance, she has now the opportunity to avoid her tragic end. However, challenging destiny is difficult, especially if her existence creates disarray to the world she knew.

Separated by fifteen years in time but equally threatened by mysterious forces, political schemes, and an ancient power that seeks to end the prophecy, both had to ferry their way toward survival, even if it meant blurring the line between a hero and a villain.

A little note from the author, this story is told in two POV's, each of it having different sets of timelines.

This story is a slow-progression fantasy. The starting are slow, but along the way characters will start finding clues, start doing things that will drive the plot to the build-up point.

Updates are on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays (CST).
