For the past sixteen years, Ranun Spring has been regarded as "The Great King" by his people. But in a society where kings are decided not by birth and family, but through meritocracy, only the strongest warriors can deem themselves kings. Ranun, the King of Soucrest, feels his rule to be a sham, as years ago during the revolution that got him the crown, he was stricken with a curse. To the outside world, Ranun Spring seems to be in his prime, but that is the furthest from the truth. Every time he exerts himself physically, the curse crawls and expands from the inside his stomach, diminishing his lifespan the more he is active. Only his most loyal subjects know about his curse and that his life as a warrior has been reserved to for when the kingdom needs him most, the battlefield.

West of the Soucrest border, a young sixteen year old girl is sent to Dormoor as a tribute to Lord Aidan Payne, a rising warlord planning to one day conquer all Kingdom of Valoria. Belch, the name her fellow beasts gave her, might be Aidan's secret weapon for achieving that goal. Growing up sheltered, taught to believe she is a monster, Belch is only now beginning to learn what it means to truly be a human, all awhile enchanted with a power that sets her apart from everybody else.

Join the two of them and many others as tensions are on the rise, and war is inching toward total war.

This Serial contains multiple character perspectives, more than the two mentioned in the blurb above. Note that there are arcs instead of straight chapters. Point for this is simply because I think it fits better, rather than having hundreds of chapters on one list, I think the arcs do better to separate parts of the story.

As for the gore, I don't get too heavy into details. Expect blood, death of characters, and description appropriate for those scenes.

During the writeathon, I plan on writing and posting nearly every day, up to the point the challenge is over, then I can start posting a few peridocally through the week. I appreicate any criticism or concerns. If somethings wrong, (grammar, continuity, ect...) let me know! Thank you for reading!

[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]
