Five years after the events of Through Verdant Mirrors, Vera, now Queen alongside her loving King Clarus, has made a name for herself through her radical new policies and secretive experiments. When Roja, who was orphaned by the Cavean half a decade ago, encounters her, she sees something in him and has him and his friends brought to the palace. There, they find out that they will soon be traveling to the distant nation of Raasland. Unbeknownst to Roja, Vera and the dryad that lives in her mind Aesling have heard something calling from the northern forests, but what they'll find there will shake several kingdoms to their very core and change the world forever.
