In the year 1997, the Earth was ripped apart.

It began as small, rhythmic tremors. Alone, they would have registered only as insignificant quakes – but occurring simultaneously around the globe, they were far more alarming. Tremors became earthquakes, and soon earthquakes became something greater. Entire cities were swallowed whole by enormous chasms formed as the continents themselves were rent asunder.

Then things started to crawl out.

They were enormous beasts, some bearing a passing resemblance to familiar animals and some totally unrecognizable. These titans were gargantuan, and it was their death throes that truly spelled the end of human civilization. Even in death, many persisted, their very essences still infecting and haunting the ruined land.

Now, hundreds of years later, the primitive remains of humanity live in the shadows of these long-dead titans.
