Raphael, an unremarkable human by all standards, dies in an aptly unmemorable manner. That should be the end. Only instead of Death, he finds himself transported to an alternate reality where humanity has spread out across the stars, carved out a portion of the galaxy as their domain, and are the most dominant species in the galaxy.
Eternity is an attempt to give the reincarnation genre a more solemn feel. Most books, manga, and LN on the genre tend to be comedic or satirical. Eternity is meant to be a take on the genre where stakes are high as they get. By that I mean entire worlds, interplanetary nations, and billions of lives are on the line. Its grand strategy on an epic scale, with plenty of spaceships, spaceship fights, people firing blasters at each other, political intrigue, and Empire building. All while retaining a personal touch by letting readers follow the characters closely. That's the goal anyway.
