Ten years ago, for whatever reason, a large number of people and places were magically shifted to a new planet. Many had called it the end, and so that became the planet's name.

Some awoke to powers, and others did not. Elves and dwarfs, normal fantasy creatures, are dying off from humanity's sudden appearance. Magic and technology are forced to merge to advance the Shifted. Spike is a failed hero acting as a quest taker in the city of Eclipse. A hooded woman has entered his shop with a plea: to find her missing brother who went to investigate the Frost Dragon, a magical creature before their time, who once interacted with the Previous.

Astria Foola, the hooded woman, believes her brother has cracked the code to the language of the Previous—those who, long ago, had been Shifted... but suddenly disappeared.

What will these two find in this mismatched world of past and future? Of magic and technology? And will they uncover the great mystery that will allow them to be transported back home?

And what is the toiling tower that collects all that lives?
