At the high end of the 21st century and amidst all forms of seemingly improbable scientific developments achieved by humanity, a mysterious new discovery sends the world into a reeling shock as psychic beings known as "espers" begin to appear. This discovery is that of a new organ within the human body, the aptly titled "subnerve", a secondary nervous system connecting only to the heart and the brain and seemingly capable of performing the functions of either organ should the original be destroyed, but despite this alone being an amazing function, its not the organs primary purpose; for that would be the creation of "esp" or psionic energy, a strange new power that allows otherwise regular humans to perfrom miraculous feats by virtue of focused thought.

Our story, of course, follows one such curious creature, a boy known as Ynim Citae.
