Wren had achieved his goals. He was prepared to leave his hometown with its pride at his back. He dreamt of coming back powerful enough to right the wrongs done to it. A tale short as it is timeless, a rags to riches, a power fantasy, the simple story of hope.

But the world is not such a simple place. Dusk has settled on the small mining village he calls home, and forces beyond his comprehension will use him as a pawn. The simple skills he developed at home - the skills of the pick, the spear, and the book - will not be enough.

To get back on track, to eventually bring happiness back to his home and rebuild, he will need to learn far, far, more. For the simple stories allow us to hide what is underneath.
