After an alien invasion attacks their home-world of Vermasse, Xavier's family become caught on three different sides of the same war. His sister an unknowing hostage of humanity's Union, his mother a willing ally of the alien Vruhr and Xavier caught in the middle, fighting to keep them both alive.

With only a beat-up rebel ship inhabited by a cranky, anxiety-ridden crew on his side Xavier and his allies must venture into enemy space and rescue his mother, Adrijana. She alone can provide answers as to why Vermasse was attacked and why she now conspires with the alien Vruhr who attacked it. However, Adrijana has troubles of her own.
