What lies at a dragon's deepest heart?

Valthurian Goldenflame awakens from a millenia-long slumber to find the world has changed in his absence. Humans run rampant with cities of towers reaching for the skies, there are 'status screens' and 'stat sheets' defining everything, and, oh yes, Valthurian is also a crystalized soul in a glowing gemstone now instead of the awe-inspiring predator he should be.

One thing hasn't changed. He still needs to accumulate as much gold as dragonly possible. He'll just have to change his methods of acquiring it.

Avarice and adoration, twinned and inseparable, and both focused upon one thing only.

Gold.

Dungeon core focused on acquisition of specific items rather than killing. High fantasy, set a few hundred years after their system apocalypse was dealt with. The world has moved on, and one ancient dragon (core) has to figure out how this new world works if he's to survive and thrive.
