At the end of a covert mission to suppress an ongoing Orcish Rebellion, Betrard Falen, an honorable and beloved general of the Kingdom of Alvyond, is murdered by his trusted lieutenant, Ia Balam. Just as Falen is lying dead, one of the Seven Daemons, Laab the Trickster, resurrects the betrayed hero and, in return, asks him to become his champion, a worshipper-at-war who will have to kill and make fame all in the name of the Daemon.
