To walk any Path, one must first be dedicated above all else, to actively set themself to the task, to spend time and effort. Second comes knowledge, for a Path is but a set of directions to reach a destination. Beyond this comes, unfortunately, resources, not for any inherent ability to master a Path but rather granting the practitioner time.

In fara'Tinith, and indeed the world at large, the peons lack all, time, knowledge, and resources. Generations toil their lives away all to save their scant resources for their young to learn a Lesser Path or to take the first Steps of a Greater Path. Not enough for one to become a true practitioner, but enough to hopefully give them a chance.

Remith's father, Akhun was one such youth. His father had been part of a clan of miners within the peaks of Karak Agrak. They had had need of a great practitioner and sent Akhun to Tinith to walk the Paths. When Akhun dies during a military campaign Remith is left alone in fara'Tinith. With scant preparations and a book Akhun had written his studies in, Remith must brave the world.

I have read far too many books to not give my own making a functional shot. This will be interesting at the very least. I would love to hear any criticism or feedback. I hope you enjoy the story.

Anything that I post onto RoyalRoad.com is meant to stay.
